A woman’s name in monumental art of Kyrgyzstan. You will be exploring some of the artworks of a famous sculptress, Olga Manuilova, completed in the 40s-50s on a walking tour around the city.
Ever looked up at the statues on the roof of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Bishkek? The author is Olga Manuilova who was forever inspired by the esthetics of Central Asia. She came to Kyrgyzstan in 1939 and since then lived here the rest of her life.
Her hands have sculpted portraits of many, old and young, renowned cultural figures or unknown random passersby, but she could always portray the character of the living person through the plasticity of material, be it clay, plaster or marble.
